EYFS Curriculum
Early Years Foundation Stage British Curriculum
We are a top international British Curriculum School in Dubai. As such we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) “Development Matters” Curriculum for Foundation Stage 1 (FS1) and Foundation Stage 2 (FS2).
The EYFS is a UK government framework that sets out welfare and development goals for children aged five and under. The EYFS framework is used to monitor and track your child’s developmental progress. This information on your child’s development will be shared with you regularly. The development sections covered within EYFS these are separated into the following seven key learning areas:
Prime Areas of Development and Learning
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Personal Social and Emotional Development
Specific Areas of Development and Learning
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding of the World
- Expressive Arts
The four themes of the Early Years Foundation Stage underpin all of the planning, observation and assessment of individuals.
- A unique child
- Positive relationships
- Enabling environments
- Learning and development
(The first three theme ensure the fourth – Learning and Development)
Key aspects of effective learning characteristics include children:
- being willing to have a go
- being involved and concentrating
- having their own ideas
- choosing ways to do things
- finding new ways
- enjoying achieving what they set out to do
A developmental curriculum, this programme recognises and allows for each child to progress at their individual pace in each area of the seven areas of development. It provides firm foundations from which children move into the National Curriculum for England in Year One.
A British Curriculum School in Dubai with various Graduation Pathways
Dubai offers a plethora of educational curriculums, the choice of which is a deeply personal one which depends very much on each individual pupil, and what they hope to achieve in their lives once they finish Senior School. It’s a tough choice, and we are often asked by Junior School Parents: “How do I know now, while my child is in Junior school, what graduation pathway will be suitable for them when they are in Senior School?” It’s a difficult call to make so early on in your child’s educational journey, and that is why at Kent College Dubai, we offer various graduation options for your child to choose from once they reach Senior School. We are a top international British Curriculum School (GCSE and A Levels), we offer BTEC in Performing Arts, Sports or Business, and we are an IB Candidate School.
